Thank You LordBeing thankful is recorded as early as Genesis 4:3 and 4 when Cain brought fruit from the ground as an offering to God and Abel brought a firstling of the flock for sacrifice unto God. Thankfulness was always accompanied by a gift to God. In Genesis 8:20 Noah built an altar unto God when they were finally able to disembark from the ark and he offered sacrifice being thankful that they had been spared. Passover is the greatest day of thanksgiving set forth in the Bible. The people of Israel left Egypt after being enslaved 400 years. They left with all the riches of Egypt and there was not a feeble knee among them. Passover is celebrated in the spring as well as Easter or Resurrection Sunday and these are true days of thankfulness (not that I am propounding a change). For Passover we are thankful that God delivered His people from Egypt and by the Passover Lamb they were redeemed by the blood and by its flesh their diseases healed . For Resurrection Sunday we are thankful that Jesus Christ is our Passover Lamb who redeemed us by his blood and by his flesh we were healed of all our diseases. In this administration of Grace giving thanks is to be continual and not confined to a single day. Thanksgiving reminds us of our blessings spiritually and physically and this is good. But we must also be thankful the other days of the years. Start your prayer with thanksgiving. When you read the Psalms thankfulness is prevalent. We can be thankful for God's great goodness and mercy.
We can be thankful for the nearness of God's presence.
We can be thankful for public worship.
We can be thankful for His holiness.
We can be thankful for the triumph in Christ that we have through the Gospel.
We can be thankful on behalf of our ministers.
We can be thankful to Christ for our lives. We can be thankful for deliverance from the sin that dwells within us. We can be thankful that we have victory over death and the grave.
We can be thankful for all things. According to the Word of God thanksgiving should be accompanied by praise and prayers for others.
These verses are not confined to any one day, but a daily and moment by moment way of life. Walking in thankfulness and praise to God daily will change your life. It will also change the lives of others as you pray for people and be an example of His loving kindness and mercy. Today, we as a nation can be thankful for each other and the peace that we can have in our hearts knowing that God had a hand in forming this country and He helps us stay strong. We must pray for our country to unleash the power of God. We must pray for our leaders in government and our ministers that they do and say what God would have them do. We have not because we ask not. God will not overstep our freedom of will.
God Bless &Enjoy Your Thanks Giving
