The Words Out of My Mouth

Living Abundantly
According to God's Word Series

Read Time: 10 Minutes

God made a promise to Abram that his seed would be as the number of stars in heaven. If you have ever been away from the city lights on a clear moonless night the stars are innumerable and breathtaking. God promised Abram that he would have as many kids as the stars he can see. He saw a lot more stars that we do too (due to the city lights). That is a lot of kids!

Genesis 15
:4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
        This [Abram's steward] shall not be thine heir;
        but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
:5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said,
        Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars,
            if thou be able to number them:
    and he said unto him,
        So shall thy seed be.
:6 And he believed in the LORD;
    and he counted it to him for righteousness.

Abram took God at His Word. However, Sarai (his wife) didn't have a child immediately, but she endeavored to figure this out herself and sent her handmaid Hagar into Abram. Abram and Hagar had Ishmael when Abram was 86. Time passes and Sarai is still not pregnant. Then we come to chapter 17 and 13 years later. God knows that Abram is still without a child from Sarai and gives him some assistance. God changes their names which changes the confession and words that they hear.

Genesis 17
:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him,
        I am the Almighty God;
        walk before me, and be thou perfect.
:2     And I will make my covenant between me and thee,
        and will multiply thee exceedingly.
:3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
:4     As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee,
        and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
:5     Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram,
        but thy name shall be Abraham;
            for a father of many nations have I made thee.
:6     And I will make thee exceeding fruitful,
        and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
:7     And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant,
            to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
:8     And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger,
        all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

The meaning of names here is important. The name Abram means "high father," the meaning of Abraham is "father of a multitude." So now when anyone calls Abraham he is being called father of a multitude. God also changed Sarai (contentious & princely) to Sarah (the mother of princes).

:15  And God said unto Abraham,
        As for Sarai thy wife,
        thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.
:16   And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her:
        yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations;
        kings of people shall be of her.

The Covenant that God entered into with Abraham included the circumcision as a token of the covenant between Him and Abraham. Another continual reminder that God will fulfill His promise to Abraham and Sarah.

How can we can apply these principles in our lives today? In our culture names don't have the same significance. My name, Yvonne, means "Yew" and from what I understand it is not the tree but the archaic meaning of an archer's bow, which is made from yew. And, I had to look that up because I had forgotten what it meant. So, today, names aren't always a reminder. What else can we do?

We have God's Word written, (Abraham did not) so what we can do is put it continually before our faces. Many years ago I learned a principle of affirmations, statements made that you want to see to come to pass. This is even more powerful when we apply the Word.

It has been said that there are over 900 promises in God's Word. These are truly treasures to find because then we can speak the Word of God upon our lives.

In Hebrews God talks about the rest that is available to His people when they follow His Word.

Hebrews 4:
:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David,
        To day, after so long a time; as it is said,
        To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. [reject the Word]
:8 For if Jesus had given them [those under the law] rest,
    then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
:10 For he that is entered into his rest,
    he also hath ceased from his own works,
    as God did from his.
:11 Let us labour [spudazo - be diligent] therefore to enter into that rest,
    lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
    piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
    and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight:
    but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest,
        that is passed into the heavens,
        Jesus the Son of God,
    let us hold fast our profession. [persist in confession of him]
:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities;
    but was in all points tempted like as we are,
        yet
without sin.
:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace,
    that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The rest to God's people is available now, Jesus Christ became all that was required to purchase us back and give us access to the throne of Grace. The Word of God is quick (alive) and powerful, that is tool we have been given to enter into the rest God speaks of. We have the right and privilege to be called Sons of the Most High God and to enter into the rest that God provides. When we where small children our daddies took care of us, we didn't have to worry and fret. We have a Heavenly Father that takes care of us now, we must be diligent to enter into that rest.

God repeatedly reminds us in His Word that he takes care of those that diligently seek him.

Isaiah 55
:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found,
    call ye upon him while he is near:
:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
    and let him return unto the LORD,
    and he will have mercy upon him;
    and to our God,
        for he will abundantly pardon.
:8     For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
        neither are your ways my ways,
    saith the LORD.
:9     For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
        so are my ways higher than your ways,
        and my thoughts than your thoughts.
:10   For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven,
        and returneth not thither,
        but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud,
            that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
:11   So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
            it shall not return unto me void,
            but it shall accomplish that which I please,
            and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
:12    For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace:
             the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing,
             and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
:13    Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree,
            and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree:
            and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

God's Word spoken prospers whereunto it is sent, speak God's Word.

Here are some truths from the Word that we can repeat often. How often? As often as it takes to be convinced of the truths of God's Word.

The Lord has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant, and Abraham's blessings are mine.

Galatians 3
:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
    that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

God I call upon you and praise you. You are rich unto me and all your people.

Romans 10
:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
    for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

God cares for me at all times and goes way beyond my simple requests. I walk with God and give Him the glory every moment of the day.

Ephesians 3
:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,
        according to the power that worketh in us,
:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages,
        world without end.
    Amen.

Psalm 34
:1  I will bless the LORD at all times:
    his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

I have the authority to bind and loose things in heaven and on earth.

Matthew 18
:18 Verily I say unto you,
    Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:
    and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

It is God that has given me the power to obtain wealth

Deuteronomy 8
:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God:
     for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth,
     that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

I sow the Word into the fertile ground of my heart

Mark 4
:20 And these are they which are sown on good ground;
    such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit,
    some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

I have authority over all in the earth. My finances must obey me. We are prosperous above what we could ask or think!

Philippians 2
:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
    and given him a name which is above every name:
:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
    of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

I have the authority, therefore I bind all forces that are set against me, my finances and my family and loose the financial prosperity upon me. I hereby declare all curses against me null, void, and harmless! I am redeemed from the curse of poverty! I am free from oppression!

Heavenly Father I honor you with the first fruits of my increase and I call for increase in financial income to my work. I declare my work to prosper for a workman is worthy of his hire and I am richly rewarded for my work.

Proverbs 3
    :9 Honour the LORD with thy substance,
        and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
    :10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty,
        and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

The work that I do is effective and efficient and a glory to God. My actions are guided by the hand of God.

Proverbs 16
    :9 A man's heart deviseth his way:
    but the LORD directeth his steps.

Romans 5
    :17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one;
        much more they which receive abundance of grace
        and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one,
            Jesus Christ.

Speak the promises of God that line up with the Word of God. The Word of God is quick and powerful; unleash the power of God's Word in your life.
