Words Fitly Spoken BlogTo Know the AuthorRead Time: 4 Minutes Communication - whether written, verbal, or in gestures, allows us to know who and what kind of person we are dealing with. Over time we can gather what their intent is and their level of integrity. We know people that wear their heart on the sleeve, are calloused and hard-hearted, are giving and benevolent, or are reserved and untrusting. Their character has been molded by many factors and continues to be influenced by outside sources. I have been reading George Müller's auto-biography and biographies about him and by this I get to know him. Even though he was a liar, a thief, and a con artist, God stirred within his soul a compassion for people and longing for a relationship with Himself the Father. Only God can take a person who would lie and steal without reservation or regret and turn their hearts 180°. We have a Heavenly Father, an Almighty God, that knows us and who we are. He longs for fellowship, for communication. In this communication we will get to know Him. He is not distant but closer than our very breath. How are we going to know Him? We have access to Him, Jesus Christ redeemed us and rent the veil that separated us from the holy of holies, the innermost sanctuary. We can now come before the throne of grace with boldness. To truly know our Heavenly Father, Almighty God, we need to come to His Holy Scriptures. The most intimate knowledge of God is laid there like treasure. God's heart for His man is laid bare in the pages of His Book. When we come to His Word prayerfully and habitually we are rewarded with His love and care. One question that I have about George Müller is how was he able to walk with God and be so completely trusting? In the biography "George Müller of Bristol, His Life of Prayer and Faith" by A. T. Pierson, Mr. Pierson quotes "Of the Kings Treasuries" by Ruskin in saying:
The scripture that Pierson is referring to are as follows:
God is the fountain if living waters (Solomon 4:15; Jeremiah 2:13) and a light unto our path:
Only God can change the heart of a man. He is our great miracle-working God. Come to Him with open palms in reverence and respect and immerse yourself in His Word. You will then find a loving Heavenly Father that is willing to help, guide and take care of you all the days of your life and for eternity. |
